Charlotte Hammill Psychotherapy
About
As a psychotherapist, I have been primarily trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is an evidence-based treatment for symptoms of social anxiety, general anxiety, major depression, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive tendencies, and eating or body image disturbance. I use a collaborative approach whereby we work together to explore what your symptoms or needs may be and identify the skills and strategies required to address them. I also work with those who have experienced trauma using a specific evidence based technique called Written Exposure Therapy. Please email me if you have questions about this type of work.
A key component of CBT and an important part of effective care is using measurement-based care to evaluate your current experience. This means that we use assessments to measure depression, anxiety and other symptoms to see if the work we are doing is actually effective for you and providing some relief. We use these assessments to guide us in areas that might need more attention. The platform I use for this is called Green Space which provides visual data on symptom improvement or worsening. Sometimes therapy can feel like you are spinning your wheels, however, with this type of care we can track whats happening and keep moving ahead.
If you don't feel this is necessary for you, no problem. Though it is highly recommended to do at least a baseline assessment and one approx. every 6 weeks.
